This conversational play, the successor of Ayad Akhtar’s “Disgraced”, explores the fault lines within a Muslim family in today’s America. Gender Studies are not only a threat to the established social order of the Muslim world – in western religions, God is firmly male, too. But how do we know this and why do we simply assume that it is so? The young Muslim woman Zarina fights for her right to ask these questions – and in doing so, unsettles her entire family.
